FAQ

Straight answers.

If your question isn't here, ask us. A person replies, not a bot.

The basics

Is this legal?

Yes. Federal regulation 19 CFR 103.31 lets importers ask U.S. Customs and Border Protection to keep their name and address, and their suppliers', off public vessel manifests. You sign the request; we prepare and submit it.

What exactly gets hidden?

Your company's name and address wherever it appears as consignee or notify party, marks and numbers that would identify you, and, if you include them, your foreign suppliers' names and addresses. Cargo descriptions, weights, ports and dates stay on the record.

Are you part of U.S. Customs?

No. Supplier Privacy is a private service operated by VAR LLC and is not affiliated with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. We prepare and submit your request; CBP decides and processes it.

Does it cover air freight?

This program covers ocean vessel manifests, which is where import-data sites get their records.

Do you cover exports?

Our plans are built for importers. Shippers can also request confidentiality on outward manifests; contact us if that's what you need.

Working with us

Why not do it myself?

The work is finding every spelling of your name that has appeared on past shipments, filing all of them, checking every month that nothing leaks, and renewing before the 2-year expiry so you never go public again.

What do you need from me?

About five minutes for the intake: legal name, any DBAs, EIN, U.S. address, past addresses, affiliates, known suppliers, and the name and title of the person who will sign. Later you approve the name list and e-sign the certification.

Who signs the request?

An officer or authorized employee of your company. Your company is always the requesting party and certifies the information. We prepare the document and submit it on your behalf.

How fast is it?

We aim to file within 48 hours of signing.

Does my customs broker need to do anything?

Usually not. It helps if the names we file match exactly how your broker enters you, so we'll ask for any spellings they use.

Results and monitoring

Will past shipments disappear?

Protection covers shipments from approval forward. Pro and Multi-entity include removal requests to the major data sites; results depend on each site.

What's a name variant, and why does it matter?

Every way your company has appeared on a bill of lading: LLC vs L.L.C., a missing comma, an old address, a DBA, a typo. Confidentiality only applies to names that match exactly, so each variant that isn't filed stays public.

What happens if something leaks?

A new public shipment under your name means a variant was missed. We add it, file an amended request at no charge and tell you what we found.

Which data sites do you monitor?

ImportYeti, ImportGenius, Panjiva, Volza, ImportKey, Trademo and others. How often depends on your plan: quarterly on Starter, monthly on Pro and Multi-Entity, weekly on Enterprise.

Can you guarantee 100%?

No one can promise 100%. What we commit to is the process: every name filed, monthly checks, and re-filing at no charge if a variant shows up.

Billing and renewals

How long does protection last?

Two years from approval. We prepare your renewal 90 days out and file by day 60 so there's no gap.

What does the annual upkeep cover?

Monitoring, adding new name variants and suppliers, re-filing when needed, your proof reports and the year-2 renewal. It starts in month 13; the setup fee covers your first 12 months.

Can I cancel?

Yes, from your dashboard at any time. Your current protection stays in place until it expires, but we stop monitoring and won't renew it.

What's your refund policy?

Full refund any time before we file. Once U.S. Customs acknowledges your request, the setup fee isn't refundable.

How do you protect my EIN and supplier list?

Your EIN is encrypted at rest, each client's records are isolated, admin access requires multi-factor sign-in and is logged, and signed documents are kept in private storage. We delete your data on request.
